In an era where social impact is as vital as economic growth, Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) are emerging as powerful changemakers. These globally connected individuals are using their skills, experiences, and resources to build social enterprises ventures that blend business with a mission to create positive, sustainable change.
From rural development to healthcare, education to climate action, NRB-led social enterprises are transforming communities across Bangladesh. These are not just acts of charity they are smart, scalable solutions designed for long-term impact.
At BOND (Bridging Organization with NRBs for Development), we celebrate these innovators who are proving that purpose-driven businesses can fuel both economic and human development.
What Is a Social Enterprise?
A social enterprise is a business that prioritizes social or environmental goals alongside financial sustainability. Unlike traditional nonprofits, these ventures aim to generate revenue but that income is reinvested to solve critical issues like poverty, unemployment, inequality, and climate change.
NRBs, with their global exposure and deep emotional ties to Bangladesh, are uniquely positioned to lead such ventures. Their ideas often reflect global innovation while addressing local needs with cultural sensitivity.
Why NRBs Are Leading This Movement
Many NRBs have studied, worked, or built businesses abroad. This gives them:
- Access to global best practices
- Financial capital and networks
- Cross-cultural insights
- A strong desire to give back meaningfully
These advantages make NRBs natural leaders in building enterprises that create lasting, people-centered impact.
